How to Prevent Double Bookings Between Peerspace and Direct Clients

The calendar sync strategy that keeps your Peerspace, Giggster, and direct bookings from colliding.

By The Kowbi Team

If you list your studio on Peerspace or Giggster while also taking direct bookings, you've probably had that moment of panic: two clients booked for the same time slot.

Here's how to prevent it.

The Problem

Peerspace and Giggster don't talk to each other. And neither talks to your personal booking system. This creates gaps where:

  • A Peerspace booking comes in
  • You forget to block the time elsewhere
  • A direct client books the same slot
  • Chaos ensues

The Solution: Central Calendar Authority

You need one calendar that shows ALL your bookings from ALL sources. Every booking system syncs to this calendar, and every system checks it before accepting new bookings.

Google Calendar as the Hub

Google Calendar is the simplest hub because:

  • It's free
  • Both Peerspace and Giggster can sync with it
  • Most booking tools integrate with it
  • You can view everything in one place

The Sync Setup

  1. Peerspace → Google Calendar: Enable calendar sync in Peerspace settings
  2. Giggster → Google Calendar: Enable calendar sync in Giggster settings
  3. Direct bookings → Google Calendar: Use a booking tool that syncs automatically

Now when someone tries to book on any platform, it checks the central calendar first.

Beyond Basic Sync

Simple calendar sync has limitations:

  • No buffer time: Back-to-back bookings with no cleanup
  • No automation: You still manage check-ins manually
  • No damage protection: No documentation if something breaks

What Kowbi Adds

We built Kowbi to handle the full workflow:

  1. Two-way sync: Bookings on Kowbi appear on Google Calendar. Peerspace bookings block time on Kowbi.
  2. Buffer windows: Automatic check-in and cleanup time around each booking
  3. Conflict detection: Warns before double-booking, even across platforms
  4. Documentation: Photo evidence at check-in and checkout

Quick Wins Today

Even without new software, you can reduce double-booking risk:

  1. Enable calendar sync on every platform you use
  2. Add buffer events manually (30 min before/after each booking)
  3. Check the calendar before confirming any booking
  4. Set up notifications for new bookings on all platforms
